25 ‘Waltham Butternut’ Winter Squash Seeds

Cucurbita moschata

Non-GMO, Heirloom, Open Pollinated

Waltham Butternut Winter Squash is the ideal butternut squash and an old favorite. An AAS winner in 1970, this variety is widely grown and loved for its large and sweet fruits, growing on average 9-inch-long fruits. These squashes can be stored for several months after curing. Waltham Butternut squash is delightful in baked dishes and soups!

Ideal germination temperature for this squash seed is 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Direct sow seeds into your garden, after the last frost. Alternatively, start seeds indoors and carefully transplant outdoors after danger of frost has passed, careful not to disturb the roots. You can also direct sow in late summer (or early fall) for a late fall harvest.
