This cantaloupe is recognized for its vigorous growth and juicy, flavorful fruits. The Hearts of Gold cantaloupe (or muskmelon) has a heart of deep orange, deliciously sweet and aromatic flesh. These plants produce 2- to 3-pound firm fruits that mature from green to tan, forming a net-like pattern on the exterior of the fruits.
Seeds will germinate best at 75 degrees Fahrenheit. Direct sow melon seeds 1-2 weeks after your last frost, when the soil temperature is above 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Alternatively, start seeds indoors 2-4 weeks before transplanting, when the temperature outside is at least 75 degrees Fahrenheit.
