150+ ‘English’ Lavender Seeds

Lavandula angustifolia

Non-GMO, Heirloom, Open Pollinated

English Lavender is one of the most common lavender plants used for is delightful aromatics and medicinal benefits. The spikes of violet purple flowers bloom all throughout the summer. The flowers are sweet and floral and are often used in cosmetics, desserts & jams, and for their calming effects on the body. This lavender grows like a perennial evergreen shrub. Lavender grows slowly, so expect flowers only after the second year of growth.

Start lavender seeds indoors, as they can take a while to germinate (can take up to 3 months). To increase germination, cold stratify the seeds in a moist paper towel in a plastic bag, placed into the refrigerator for about one month; check often and keep moist. After a month or when seeds begin to germinate, carefully remove and place into your growing medium (it is recommended to use a light soil or vermiculite blend) and barely cover. Keep moist and place in a sunny location, ideally 60-70 degrees Fahrenheit. Transplant when the seedlings are large enough to handle and have several leaves.

Alternatively, you can start lavender seeds in a greenhouse, on a seed heat mat; expect germination in 14-30 days with this method.
