Grown in the United States since the 1800’s and in Europe since the 1500’s, the Black Spanish Round Radish is a unique heirloom. This root crop is blackish colored on the exterior with white interior flesh and a nutty-spicy flavor. It grows best as a winter radish, and is best harvested when the radishes are about 3-4 inches in diameter. Easy to grow and store, this radish has also been known for its medicinal properties.

Direct sow in late summer (or two months before the average first frost) for a fall harvest of this cool season crop. Ideal germination temperature is 50-75 degrees Fahrenheit.
