The bright red appearance of Atomic Red carrots is sure to delight at both harvest and dinner time; the color is due to large amounts of an antioxidant called lycopene, also found in tomatoes. Long, slender, and tapered, these carrots maintain their red coloration even when cooked, and are high in vitamins and minerals!
These carrot seeds can be planted when the soil temperature is at least 45 degrees Fahrenheit, though the ideal germination temperature for these seeds is 50-75 degrees Fahrenheit. Surface sow or lightly cover seeds. Direct sow this cool season crop into fluffy, loose soil in early spring and/or early fall.
